Obituary for Mary Antonette Porter (Nolan)

PORTER, Mary Antonette (nee Nolan) - Passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre with her loving family by her side on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 75 years of age. Loving wife of Keith Porter. Beloved mother of Karon and Diane. Proud grandmother of Misty, Melissa and Ryan. Great grandmother of Isaac. Daughter of the late Frank and Nancy. She will be missed dearly by extended family.

The family would like to thank the caring team of doctors and nurses of the Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiac Unit at Southlake.

Friends may call at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, November 24 at 2 p.m. followed by a reception at the funeral home.

If desired memorial donations may be made to the Cardiac Unit at Southlake Regional Health Centre.

My deepest condolences to the family,
Mary was a very dear friend for 49 years. We enjoyed many a cup of tea or sometimes a glass of wine or two. We shared tears as well as many laughs together. I can still see her enjoying her dancing to her favourite song which was “Proud Mary”. Many summers we rented a cottage together. Keith would go fishing; the kids would be playing and the two of us would go next door to the restaurant for a plate of chips. In our later years we often got together and enjoyed many dinner parties with some friends and shared many laughs together. I will miss knowing that she is just a phone call away. Many of my memories throughout my life include this special friend. Rest in peace xo

Keith, Karon, Diane and family,
My deepest condolences for the loss of Mary. I am unable to remember a time when I did not know Mary. I think we met when I was 8 months old. Many years of being neighbours, sharing in parties, celebrations as well as living together for several months while my family home was being built. She always made me feel welcome in her home and taught me how to make a good cup of tea. She was my Godmother.
The last time I have a lengthy discussion with Mary she was in the hospital. I sat at her bedside and she spoke about how lucky she felt to have such a wonderful husband. She brought a smile to my face as she bragged about her Keithy and how he takes care of her. She really appreciated the love and support and true dedication from her Keithy. Well Mary, when you see my dad give him a big hug from me. Rest in peace always. xo
