Obituary

George Wiggers
After a long struggle with cancer, George Wiggers passed away peacefully in his own bed in his own home in the Meadows of Aurora in the embrace of his family on December 4, 2018. He was 74 years old.
George was born Gerrit Jan Wiggers in Aalten in the Netherlands on June 12, 1944. He was the 2nd of five children of John Hendrik Wiggers and Adrianna Johanna Sikking. The family immigrated to Canada in June, 1952.
Beloved husband of Sarah (nee Moelker), loving father of Lisa (Pierre) Story and Anna (Shawn) Graves. Proud Opa of Madison, Mackenzie, Emma, Eva, Julia and Karina. Dearly loved brother of Riki (Fred) Westrik, Dianne (Henk) Tebrake, Wilma (Albert) Vos, Audrey (Hessel) Vandervelde and Pam (Rob) Crute. Dear brother- in-law of Mien Van Schelven, Pieternella Matthysse, Brenda Moelker, Nellie (Dick) Roos and fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
George was a graduate of Ryerson Polytechnic Institute and long time member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists. He worked his entire life in the construction industry and loved it! He was a child of God, devoted to Church and Family. He loved to sing and was an enthusiastic member of the Crusaders male choir for many years. He served on the Board of the Meadows of Aurora, a Christian Seniors Home for 6 years until he became too ill.
The Memorial Service for family and friends will take place on Monday, December 10 at Bethel Community Christian Reformed Church, 330 Davis Drive in Newmarket. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm in the Sanctuary. The Memorial Service begins at 2:00 pm. Dear Sarah and family, We were so sorry to learn of George's death and the death of your sister Mien. After my brother Jim sent me the information, I tried to contact you but my mail was returned . I understand that George was a man of deep faith, a loving husband and family man, who generously shared his gifts and talents including his love of music with his church and community. Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family, Sarah, and as you miss George, may the many precious memories of him somehow bring you some comfort. I remember George from high school, of course, and especially remember him "on the drums" in music class and also how smitten he was with you. I think that one time I went with you to a construction site where George was working ...something to do with 401 highway. It was wonderful that he enjoyed his chosen profession so much. I have been thinking of you and pray that our loving God will continue to hold you to His heart and wrap you in His loving and caring arms. With sincere sympathy, Leila and Dan

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. George was such an intelligent, kind, caring, loving man and although I did not know him for long, he was so welcoming towards me and i'm grateful to have met him. He will surely be missed and never forgotten.
