Obituary for Enn Jomm

Dr. Enn Jomm, MD, FRCSC - With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dr. Enn Jomm on October 9, 2018 at the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Malle, and son Paul (Eve). Enn was born in Tallinn, Estonia, on September 8, 1937. In 1944 in order to escape the crush of the Soviet invasion, his family undertook a perilous journey in a small boat in order to flee to Sweden. From there, the family emigrated to Canada in 1951 and settled in Montreal. Enn attended Westmount High School and McGill University, working during summers in the wilds of Quebec and Labrador, to earn his tuition. He graduated from McGill Medical School in 1965 and after many years of surgical residency in Montreal and Colorado, Enn practiced general and vascular surgery at the Montreal General and Queen Mary Veterans Hospitals. In 1980 he joined Shouldice Hospital in Thornhill as senior staff surgeon until retirement in 2000. Then a different lifestyle awaited him at his lakeside cottage in Parry Sound District where he joyously pursued gardening, carpentry and fishing until the diagnosis of cancer gradually brought it all to a slow and painful end. Cremation has taken place. Online condolences may be placed at www.roadhouseandrose.com and if desired, memorial donations to the exemplary Margaret Bahen Hospice (www.myhospice.ca) will be greatly appreciated.
