Obituary for George Edward Witherspoon

George Edward Witherspoon
WITHERSPOON, George E.
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 10, 2017 at the Barton Retirement Residence of cancer at the age of 87. He was the brother of the late Jean & Olive. Loving husband of Marjorie (nee Marshall) for 68 years. Proud father of Al (Sandy), James (Joanne), Sandra (Ron), Karen (Martin), Ron (Margaret) and Kim (Matt). Beloved grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. George worked at De Havilland Aircraft (now Bombardier) for 40 years as a tool & die inspector. After retiring he took a part time position at the Newmarket Court House as a Court Service Officer. He loved to watch the many activities his children took part in. He also enjoyed Bluegrass festivals, travelling, and cruising with his wife to many parts of the world. When asked how he was doing during his long battle with cancer he always said, “I never felt better.” He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Friends may call to the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main Street South, Newmarket for visitation on Saturday October 14, 2017 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 12 noon in the chapel. Interment at Newmarket Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
